Fredgaard Honored as The American Golfer of the Week

Sophomore finished second at Cougars’ ICON Invitational at Golf Club of Houston on Tuesday
HOUSTON – For the second time this season, University of Houston sophomore Karen Fredgaard was honored as the American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Fredgaard finished with a score of 11-under 205 to lead the Cougars and finish second at Houston's ICON Invitational at Golf Club of Houston earlier this week.
The Asserbo, Denmark, native fired three straight rounds in the 60s, including a career-low-tying 67 in the First Round on Monday. She drained at least three birdies in every round and tied her career 54-low, first set at the White Sands Invitational on Oct. 28-30, 2019.
It was Fredgaard's second straight Top-Two finish of the season after winning the first title of her collegiate career at the UCF Challenge in Orlando on Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
Fredgaard now leads the Cougars with a 69.00 season scoring average and all six rounds at par or better and stands at No. 2 in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin individual national rankings.
UP NEXT
Fredgaard and her Cougar teammates open the month of March when they compete in the Clover Cup. That three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., on March 12-14.
From there, the Cougars will continue their trip in the West when they tee off at the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve in Saddlebrooke, Ariz., on March 19-21.
