
Houston Set to Meet Wichita State on Thursday

Cougars face Wichita State at 6 p.m. Thursday, inside Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kan.
WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to competition when it meets Wichita State at 6 p.m., Thursday, inside Charles Koch Arena.
The game will feature the Top-Two teams in the American Athletic Conference standings. No. 6/5 Houston leads the league with an 11-2 mark, while Wichita State stands in second at 8-2.
The game also features two of the league's Top-Three scoring offense. Houston tops The American with 76.5 points per game with the Shockers in third at 72.9 points per contest.
Houston enters the game as winners of 10 of its last 11 games, including an 82-65 win at USF on Feb. 10 in Tampa, Fla. Junior guard Quentin Grimes led all players with points and added four rebounds with a pair of assists.
Senior guard DeJon Jarreau led all with eight assists against the Bulls and celebrated a personal milestone early in the game. With his second bucket of the night early in the game, Jarreau moved past the 1,000-point mark in his collegiate career.
With 303 points at UMass during the 2016-17 season and 710 points (and counting) with the Cougars, Jarreau has score 1,013 points during his career.
As a team, the Cougars lead the nation in field goal percentage defense (36.5), 3-point field goal percentage defense (25.5) and offensive rebounds per game (15.2). Houston also stands among the Top-10 national leaders in scoring defense (57.3 ppg, 2nd), scoring margin (+19.2, 3rd), rebounds per game (42.4, 5th) and rebounding margin (+10.1, 6th).
Individually, senior forward Justin Gorham continues to lead The American with 10.1 rebounds per game and ranks fourth in the country with 4.5 offensive boards per game.
