BEST FOR BLAIR. Against No. 6 Baylor, Laila Blair posted a career-high 28 points in the final game of the Cancun Challenge. Earlier in the season, the guard had matched her career-high 19 points before her 28-point game against the Bears. In the tournament, Blair averaged 13.7 points per game and earned Mayan Division All-Tournament Team.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. The Cougars are currently 2-0 when playing at home. The win over New Mexico was the Cougars second of the season after beating Howard in the season opener.
TAKE THE BALL. Houston is currently ranked No. 29 in the nation in steals with 95 this season. As well, the Cougars boast a No. 29 rank for steals per game (11.9) and No. 47 in turnovers forced (20.75). Dymond Gladney recorded a career-high and a season-high six steals against Alabama.
12 3-pointers. In the game against New Mexico, the Cougars scored 12 3-pointers. It was the fifth time in school history that a team has scored 12+ 3-pointers in a single game and third time the team has scored 12 the most recent coming against SMU in 2019.
