Cougars take on Braves with tipoff set for 7 p.m., Monday, inside the Fertitta Center
HOUSTON – University of Houston Men's Basketball fans will enjoy their third look at their team in a seven-day stretch when the 14th-ranked Cougars wrap up their homestand against Alcorn State at 7 p.m., Monday, inside the Fertitta Center.
The Cougars enter Monday's game following a 111-44 win over Bryant in the first meeting between the two schools on Friday inside the Fertitta Center. It tied as the third-biggest win in school history and was the largest margin of victory in American Athletic Conference history.
Sophomore guard Tramon Mark led the Cougars and tied his career high with 22 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. The Dickinson, Texas, native added four rebounds with four assists and a pair of steals in the win over the Bulldogs.
Mark was one of five Cougars to scored double-digit points. Graduate forward Josh Carlton totaled a season-high 17 points with six rebounds and three assists, while graduate forward Fabian White Jr. posted 16 points with a pair of blocked shots.
Senior guard Kyler Edwards finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his team-leading second double-double of the season, and sophomore forward J'Wan Roberts added a game-high 12 rebounds for his second double-digit rebounding performance in 2021-22.
This season, junior guard Marcus Sasser leads the Cougars and ranks sixth in the league with 17.8 points per game. The Dallas also leads the Cougars and The American and ranks among the national Top-20 leaders with 3.5 3-pointers per game.
