Cougars face Bryant for first time in school history with tipoff set for 7 p.m., Friday
HOUSTON – Winners of six of its first seven games to open the season, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program continues its homestand when it meets Bryant at 7 p.m., Friday, inside the Fertitta Center.
No. 15/14 Houston enters Friday's game following a dominating 99-58 win over Northwestern State on Tuesday inside the Fertitta Center.
Against the Demons, junior guard Marcus Sasser drained seven 3-pointers – all in the first half – on the way to a game-high 26 points to lead five Cougars in double digits. He became only the second Cougar to drain seven treys in any half, joining guard Robert McKiver (vs. Charleston (Nov. 17, 2007).
Graduate guard Taze Moore added a season-high 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field and grabbed five rebounds with two assists, three steals and several electrifying dunks.
This season, Sasser continues to lead the Cougars and ranks seventh in The American with 18.6 points per game. After Tuesday's long-range performance, the Dallas native moved into the league lead with 3.6 3-point field goals made per game and stands fourth with a 45.5 3-point percentage.
Sophomore point guard Jamal Shead recently moved into the starting lineup and fell just one assist shy of his first double-double of the season against Northwestern State. The Manor, Texas, native is fourth in the league with 4.7 assists per game and stands second with a 2.74 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Sophomore forward J'Wan Roberts leads Houston and ranks fourth in the league with 7.4 rebounds per contest but stands second in The American with 3.1 offensive boards per contest.

• Bryant enters Friday's game with a 3-4 record. The Bulldogs are 1-2 in road games this season and have a 2-3 mark in non-home games.
• In its most recent action, Bryant dropped a 63-61 home decision to Dartmouth in overtime on Sunday. That loss snapped the Bulldogs' season-best two-game winning streak.
• Against Dartmouth, junior guard Charles Pride led Bryant with 23 points and five 3-pointers on 9-of-19 shooting with 14 rebounds and four steals while playing all 40 minutes. Senior guard Peter Kiss totaled 19 points with five rebounds and three steals.
