Cougars tip off vs. Cowboys at 6 p.m., Saturday, inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it faces Oklahoma State at 6 p.m., Saturday, inside Dickies Arena as part of Hoop Hype XL | College Basketball Showcase.
#14/13 Houston enters this weekend's game following a 71-56 win over Louisiana on Tuesday inside the Fertitta Center. With the Cougars playing only seven student-athletes due to injuries, all five starters scored in double digits led by graduate forward Josh Carlton's 17 points and nine rebounds.
Graduate guard Taze Moore totaled 14 points with 10 rebounds for his first double-double as a Cougar, while sophomore point guard Jamal Shead totaled 16 points with five rebounds and a game-high five assists. Senior guard Kyler Edwards and graduate forward Fabian White Jr. each tallied 12 points apiece.
This season, junior guard Marcus Sasser leads the Cougars and ranks third in the American Athletic Conference with 18.4 points per game. The Dallas native was held out of Tuesday's win over Louisiana with a foot injury.
Sophomore forward J'Wan Roberts leads the team and stands second in the league with 7.7 rebounds per game. The St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands native tops the league with 3.2 offensive boards per contest.

The Cougars have enjoyed tremendous success in Dickies Arena during the facility's young history.
In 2020-21, Houston posted a 4-0 record in Dickies Arena with wins over #14/13 Texas Tech during the championship game of the Southwest Showcase and three straight wins (Tulane, Memphis and Cincinnati) to capture the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship on March 12-14.

Senior guard Kyler Edwards needs only nine more points to reach 1,000 during his collegiate career.
Second on the team with 12.3 points per game, the Arlington, Texas, native scored 856 points during his career at Texas Tech (2018-21) and has posted 135 points with the Cougars this season.
In addition to his points total, Edwards is one of only three players to rank among the American Athletic Conference's Top-14 leaders in both scoring AND rebounding. He stands eighth in the league with 5.8 rebounds per contest.
