SCOUTING the MAVERICKS
The Mavericks hold a 1-1 record to open the 2021-22 season. Its first matchup was a home contest against No. 7 Baylor losing 81-54 before hosting Sam Houston State. UT Arlington grabbed its first win of the year over the Bearkats, 72-54.
POST SEASON PLAY
In the 2020-21 season was the third-straight season the Cougars made a post-season appearance in the NIT. After finishing the regular season with a 15-6 overall record and a third place finish in conference, the Houston women's basketball headed to the NIT finishing with a 1-1 record.
FAMILIAR FACES
The women's basketball team, returns six starting players, including leading score, sophomore Lalia Blair. Other starters suiting up for the Cougars for another season include Dymond Gladney, Britney Onyeje, Julia Blackshell-Fair and Jazmaine Lewis.
75 YEARS of HOUSTON ATHLETICS
During the 2021-22 season, Houston Athletics will celebrate its 75th anniversary by recognizing its championship tradition, award-winning student-athletes and coaches and memorable moments from its rich history.
As part of this year's celebration, the Fertitta Center will be decorated with the school's 75th anniversary logo.
