Tullos Earns Defensive Honor

HOUSTON – For the first time this season, University of Houston junior middle blocker Rachel Tullos was honored as the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Tullos is coming off her third-consecutive week with at least 11 blocks.

Houston now stands with an 17-5 overall record this season and is in a three-way tie for second place in the American standings.

ABOUT RACHEL TULLOS
In two matches last week, Tullos averaged 1.22 blocks per set and added a dig on the weekend.

Tullos talliied 11 total blocks, 12 kills, hit .370 on the weekend and helped Houston top fellow-No.2 Cincinnati in Ohio on Friday.

The middle blocker has led the Coogs in blocks 15 times this season and four-straight matches. Tallying 34 total blocks over the past six matches.

UP NEXT
The Cougars will return home for a pair of weekday matches against travel partner Tulane on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. CST and then on Friday, Oct. 29 against Temple at 7 p.m. CST.
