Houston has won three of its last four matches with two straight wins
PHILADELPHIA – The University of Houston volleyball team has won three of its last four matches and continues their four-match road trip with a match at Temple on Sunday. First serve is set for Noon CST from McGonigle Hall.Â

The Cougars (12-3 • 2-1 American) enter Sunday's match following a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Tulane on Wednesday in New Orleans, La.

Against the Green Wave, junior outside hitter Abbie Jackson led the match with 15 kills and added 16 digs with two blocks. The Gig Harbor, Wash., native recorded her fourth double-double of the season and leads the team in that category.

Sophomore libero Kate Georgiades led all players with 25Â digs against Tulane for her ninth-straight match recording double-digit digs. The College Station, Texas, native posted 41 digs in Friday's American Athletic Conference opener vs. Tulsa and 18 against Wichita State. Georgiades ranks second nationally in total digs (318) and 11th nationally in digs-per-set (5.39).

Georgiades' 41 digs is the the third-highest dig total in Houston single-match history and the most since Olivia O'Dell set the school record with 47 digs at Tulane on Oct. 7, 2015.

For her impressive performance, Georgiades was named The American's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Jackson earned a place on the Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in 2021.

Temple is 0-3 to start the season and is coming off a four-set loss to Tulane on Friday night. Temple is led by Kayla Spells' .305. hitting percentage and Gem Grimshaw's 3.62 kills-per-set.Â
