Houston Returns Home in Hopes of Redemption

Cougars to host No. 2 Memphis
HOUSTON – Houston Soccer (10-4-2, 2-2-1 AAC) will kick off at the Carl Lewis International Complex Thursday at 7 p.m. to take on No. 2- ranked Memphis (10-2-1, 4-1-0 AAC).
The Cougars have faced two hard losses in the past two games against ECU at home and on the road at Temple. Houston looks to Thursday to increase its record to 11 wins while also looking to upset the No. 2 team in the American Athletic Conference.
Houston Soccer currently ranks fourth in the conference following closely behind SMU and ECU in third. South Florida holds the No. 1 ranking after defeating Memphis last week.
The Cougars hope to start the University of Houston's homecoming weekend off strong with a win. The theme of the match will be Ghouls and Goals. Fans can enjoy free candy, discounted tickets for wearing costumes, and a costume contest.
SERIES HISTORY
Houston holds a 3-16-1 series record against the Tigers. The most recent match between the two teams took place in April of last year in Memphis where the Cougars fell 0-1. The series began in 2001 with a home 2-1 win for Houston.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will be at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Sunday for its last home match of the regular season schedule against conference opponent Cincinnati at 1 p.m. Houston will honor senior Salma Ghazal, as well as honor the life of Cincinnati's Ally Sidloski who tragically passed away in May.
