
Houston Gears Up for UTA, UConn and UTSA

Cougars set to host three weekend matches
HOUSTON - Houston Tennis is back in action at the Winston Tennis Facility for three weekend matchups, first to take on UT Arlington on Friday at 2 p.m. CT, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday featuring UConn at 10 a.m. CT and UTSA at 2 p.m. CT.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
- UTA is entering its 14th season under head coach Diego Benitez.
- The Mavericks finished out their 2019 season with a 16-9 overall record, including a 6-3 fourth place finish in Sun Belt Conference play.
- UTA returns six letterwinners from its 2019 squad, and welcomes two newcomers.
- The Mavericks currently own the all-time series, 1-0.
- In their last matchup, UTA claimed victory over American Athletic Conference opponent Tulane, in a 4-2 decision.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- UConn is entering its 28th season under head coach Glenn Marshall.
- The Huskies finished out their 2019 slate with an overall record of 5-13, including a 1-4 finish in American Athletic Conference play.
- UConn welcomes back five members from last season, and adds four newcomers to its 2020 roster.
- Houston currently owns the all-time series, 8-0.
- In their last matchup, the Huskies shutout Binghamton in a 7-0 decision.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
- UTSA is entering its second season under head coach Ki Kroll.
- The Roadrunners finished out their 2019 season with a 12-13 overall record.
- UTSA returns six members from its 2019 squad, and welcomes the addition of two newcomers this season.
- Houston currently owns the all-time series, 6-0.
- In their last matchup, the Roadrunners fell to Northwestern State, 4-0.
UP NEXT
Houston is set to host a doubleheader featuring BYU on March 7 at 10 a.m. CT, followed by a matchup with UTRGV at 2 p.m. CT.
