Cougars look to secure season sweep of the Mustangs
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball will head to Dallas for a Saturday afternoon matchup with SMU that is slated for 2 p.m. inside the Moody Coliseum.
GAME NOTES
• Houston enters Saturday's game with a 12-15 overall record this season, including a 5-8 mark in conference play.
• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dymond Gladney with 11.7 points per game, followed by Dorian Branch and Tatyana Hill with 11.0 points per game and Julia Blackshell-Fair with 10.4.
• Houston is averaging 62.9 points per game on 38.9 percent shooting from the field and a 27.5 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 67.1 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.7 percent and 31.2 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.6 rebounds per contest.
• Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 37.7 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.
• Houston forces 18.7 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 24 of its 27 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 60th nationally in blocks (106) and 78th in Blocks Per Game (4.0).
