Dymond Gladney leads team with 19 points
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball fell behind late in a 76-75 loss to Temple on Saturday afternoon at McGonigle Arena.

In a game of surges the Cougars (12-14, 5-7 American) came up just short as they fell to the Temple Owls (14-10, 6-5 American). Dymond Gladney led Houston with 19 points, knocking down two 3-pointers. Julia Blackshell-Fair had five assists and 13 rebounds, as four Cougars finished the game in double figures.
The Cougars got out to their best first quarter start of conference play, opening the contest with a 9-0 run and leading by as many as 16 in the opening frame. The Cougars continued to control the pace of play for the remainder of the first half, regaining a 14-point lead after allowing Temple to get within three at one point.
Temple took its first lead at the 6:50 mark in the third quarter. Owl senior Mia Davis was the difference-maker, accounting for 27 of the Owl's points, including 18 in the second half. As time dwindled down the Cougars regain momentum to get back within two-points after Dymond Gladney knocked down her second 3-pointer of the day with 7.2 seconds remaining. A lay-up at the buzzer from Blackshell-Fair got the Cougars within one-point before the buzzer sounded.
The Cougars made sure to crash the boards and after getting outrebounded in their first meeting with the Owl's the Cougars out rebounded Temple 34-33. UH outscored Temple 14-11 in second chance points and 42-38 in the paint. The Houston bench outscored Temple's 22-2.
Houston returns home for a Tuesday night meeting with Cincinnati on Feb. 18 on The American Digital Network.
