Houston Moves into Top 10 in National Poll

Cougars stand at No. 10 in recent Associated Press Top 25
HOUSTON – After winning three games during the first five days of the season, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program moved into the Top 10 of one national poll.
The Cougars (3-0) earned 949 points from AP writers to jump to No. 10 in the AP poll.
This marks the second time in the last three seasons that Houston stood among the nation's Top 10.
During the 2018-19 season, the Cougar appeared in the AP Top 10 for three straight weeks, eventually finishing at No. 11, after advancing to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars stood in both national preseason polls released in mid-November for the first time since the start of the 1983-84 season.
UP NEXT
• The Cougars return to the friendly confines of the Fertitta Center to play host to South Carolina at 5 p.m., Saturday. Fans should note the tipoff time change, which was made to better accommodate the Houston Football game, kicking off at 8 p.m., Saturday, vs. SMU in Dallas.
• The Men's Basketball game can be seen on ESPN+ and can be heard on 950 AM KPRC.
• That will be the start of a four-game homestand for the Cougars, who go on to play host to Sam Houston State (Dec. 9), Rice (Dec. 12) and American Athletic Conference-rival UCF (Dec. 16).
• The Cougars don't hit the road again until they take on Alabama on Dec. 19 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
