
Busy Houston Faces Texas Tech on Sunday

No. 17/18 Cougars take on #14/13 Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth
FORT WORTH, Texas – Winners of its first two games to open the season, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program continues a busy start when it takes on No. 14/13 Texas Tech at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, in the final game of the Southwest Showcase inside Dickies Arena.
Fans should note the 4:30 p.m., tipoff time as it recently changed from earlier published schedules.
No. 17/18 Houston enters Sunday's game following a 68-58 win over Boise State on Friday afternoon inside the Fertitta Center. Junior guard Quentin Grimes led all players with 25 points, scoring 17 of the Cougars' 20 points during a stretch midway through the first half.
Sophomore guard and American Athletic Conference Preseason Player Caleb Mills returned to the lineup with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line after sitting out Wednesday's season opener vs. Lamar with an ankle injury.
This season, sophomore guard Marcus Sasser leads the Cougars with 17.5 points per game. Grimes is a close second with 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Redshirt freshman forward J'Wan Roberts tops the team with 10.0 rebounds per game after snaring a game-high 14 rebounds against Boise State.
Sunday's game will be the Cougars' third game in the first five days of the 2020-21 season. Houston opened the year with an 89-45 victory over Lamar on Wednesday inside the Fertitta Center before Friday's home win over the Broncos.
This will not be the Cougars' first trip to Dickies Arena this season. Houston begins the postseason inside the facility during the 2021 American Athletic Conference Championships in March.
