Houston Set to Face Wichita State on Saturday

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team will return to action on Saturday against Wichita State at the Fertitta Center.
Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN3
GAME NOTES
COUGAR FAST BREAK
• Houston enters Saturday's game with a 9-10 overall record this season, including a 2-3 mark in conference play.
• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dorian Branch with 11.9 points per game, she is followed by Tatyana Hill who is averaging 11.8 points per game. Dymond Gladney contributes 11.5 points per game followed by Julia Blackshell-Fair providing 10.7 points per game.
• Houston is averaging 64.7 points per game on 39.7 percent shooting from the field and a 26.6 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 68.4 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 42.0 percent and 31.8 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.7 rebounds per contest.
• Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 38.1 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.
• Houston forces 17.6 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 16 of its 19 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 84th nationally in blocks (71) and 106th in Blocks Per Game (3.7).

• Wichita State enters its 2nd season under Head Coach Keitha Adams and is led in scoring by Mariah McCully who is averaging 13.3 points per game. Shyia Smith leads the Shockers on the boards with 5.5 rebounds per game, as Seraphine Bastin leads the squad with 55 assists each this season.
