
Houston Drops Road Contest to Cincinnati

Four Cougars post double-figure efforts
CINCINNATI – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team dropped a road contest to American Athletic Conference foe Cincinnati on Wednesday night in a, 85-66 decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars got out to one their best first quarter starts this season. Making plays in transition and taking care of things on the defensive end. The Cougars were efficient in the opening minutes of playing shooting 75 percent before the first media timeout of the contest. Cincinnati was able to chip away at the Cougar lead, closing out the quarter with an 11-0 run to head into the break leading 25-20.
The Cougars struggled on the offensive end in the early minutes of the second frame, going scoreless for over two minutes. Allowing Cincinnati to embark on a 6-0 run. Julia Blackshell-Fair accounted for six of Houston's 11 second quarter points as the squad headed into the break trailing, 47-31.
Houston found its rhythm again, going on an early 6-0 run in the opening minutes of the third quarter. A slew of empty possessions followed by the Cougars hitting five of seven shots taken from the field at the midway point of the frame helped Houston get within 10 points with just over four minutes left in the quarter. Another 6-0 Bearcat run would again widen the deficit as time winded down and Cincinnati ultimately took a 67-49 lead at the break.
Cincinnati continued to control the game, before once again the Cougars found a spark on the offensive end and went on a 6-0 scoring run to chip away at the Bearcat lead. A scoring drought would plague UH down the stretch as the squad dropped the road contest, 85-66.
