Cougars head to Ohio for conference clash on ESPN3

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team will travel to Cincinnati for a Wednesday night matchup with the Bearcats.

The game will be aired on ESPN3, with Jim Barbar and Kelley Deyo on the call.

GAME NOTES

COUGAR FAST BREAK

• Houston enters Wednesday's game with a 9-9 overall record this season, including a 2-2 mark in conference play.

• Houston has four players averaging double-digits this season led by Dorian Branch with 11.8 points per game, she is followed by Tatyana Hill who is averaging 11.7 points per game. Dymond Gladney contributes 11.2 points per game followed by Julia Blackshell-Fair providing 10.6 points per game.

• Houston is averaging 64.6 points per game on 39.9 percent shooting from the field and a 26.6 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 67.5 points per game on defense while letting opponents shoot 41.3 percent and 31.3 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.

• Hill leads Houston on the glass, pulling down 6.6 rebounds per contest. • Houston is a force to be reckoned with on the boards this season, averaging 38.4 rebounds per game including over 15 offensive boards per game.

• Houston forces 17.7 turnovers per game, with 15 or more forced turnovers in 16 of its 18 games this season. Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars are experts at protecting the rim, entering the game ranked 52nd nationally in blocks (63) and 95th in Blocks Per Game (3.9).

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS

• Cincinnati enters Wednesday's contest with an 11-6 overall record and 2-2 mark in conference play.

• UC is averaging 69.1 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 27.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

• UC enters its 2nd season under Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard and is led in scoring by Ilmar'I Thomas who is averaging 19.9 points per game. Thomas leads the Bearcats on the boards with 8.8 rebounds per game, as Antoinette Miller and Sam Rodgers leads the squad with 53 assists each this season.
