Rehr Adds Two for 2020

Cougars add an outside hitter and setter
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Volleyball program added rising junior outside hitter Kortlyn Henderson and rising sophomore setter Sequoia Wattles to its 2020 roster, head coach David Rehr announced Friday.

"We couldn't be more excited to have truly extraordinary volleyball players and even better people join our program," Rehr said. "The skillset that both Kortlyn and Sequoia possess will add even more depth to our already talented roster."

"Kortlyn is an experienced attacker who has already played at the highest level at a two-year college. She was heavily recruited by other schools and we're happy that she chose Houston to continue to her career and earn her degree."

PRIOR TO HOUSTON
Averaged 3.95 kills per set in her two years at Iowa Western CC, including a 4.31 average in 2019, which led the Reivers to a 31-10 record and a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament … Made an appearance on the NJCAA All-Tournament team in 2018 … A two-time captain at University High School in Waco, Texas, where she was named to the All-District First Team in 2015 and 2016 … Holds her high school's record for most kills in a single match (32) and a season (455) … Ranked in the top-250 at the PrepVolleyball Senior Ace … Runner-up for the Wendy's High School Heisman selection in 2016 …

PRIOR TO HOUSTON
Competed at the University of Miami her freshman season, having served as the starting setter in the season-opener against Missouri … Dished out a career-high 41 assists in the four-set match against the Tigers … Played for SG Elite and Seal Beach Volleyball Clubs, having led her teams to multiple Junior Nationals bids and national qualifier placements … Graduated Manhattan Beach High School with Summa Cum Laude honors.
