
Houston Ready to Face No. 16 Wichita State

Cougars tip off vs. Shockers at 3 p.m., Saturday, inside Charles Koch Arena
WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program will face No. 16/16 Wichita State at 3 p.m., Saturday, inside Charles Koch Arena in a battle of American Athletic Conference leaders.
Winners of seven of its last eight games, the Cougars enter this weekend with a 13-4 overall record and are tied with the Shockers, Tulsa and Memphis at 3-1 atop the latest league standings.
Houston come into Saturday's game following a 71-62 win over SMU inside Fertitta Center on Wednesday night. Against the Mustangs, junior forward Fabian White Jr. scored 17 points with a game-high 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season
Redshirt freshman guard Caleb Mills poured in 15 points, while sophomore guard Nate Hinton totaled 14 points and fell just one rebounding shy of recording his team-leading eighth double-double of the season.
With his point total, Mills took over the team lead with 13.1 points per game. Sophomore guard Quentin Grimes is a close second with 13.0 points per game, while Hinton is nearly averaging a season-double with 12.0 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Saturday's game will be the first time the Cougars faced the Shockers in Wichita since the 2017-18 season. Houston has won the last three games in the series against Wichita State.
