Jimenez and Bouter Conclude FINA World Championships

Houston represented at World Championships
HOUSTON – Houston swimmer Gaby Jimenez and Cougar alum Micaela Bouter closed out competition at the FINA World Championships July 22-25 in Gwangju, South Korea.

Only weeks away from the start of her senior season on the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team, Jimenez traveled to South Korea to compete amongst the best of the best. Jimenez competed in the 100 LCM Breaststroke to open competition, notching a 38th-place finish in the event with a time of 1:11.83. In the 200 LCM Breaststroke, Jimenez finished in 29th-place with a time of 2:37.49, to conclude her run at the World Championships.

On the springboards, Houston alum Bouter competed in the 3-meter springboard. Bouter finished 35th-overall in the 3-meter with a score of 233.15, her best dive coming on her first attempt when she notched 60 points after completing an Inward 2 ½ Somersault Pike.

Jimenez is coming off of a stellar junior season for the Cougars with a trio of finals appearances at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championships. The meet was highlighted by a pair of third-place finishes at the meet in the 100-yard Breaststroke and the 400-yard Individual Medley.

Bouter concluded a decorated career with the Cougars last season. Bouter is a four-time NCAA Zone Diving qualifier and conference champion in the 3-meter, to go along with 11 American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week honors.
