
Houston Falls to Tulsa in Doubleheader

Vannoy goes 4-for-6 in both games
Heading into Saturday's series finale, the Cougars sit at 25-14 and 2-6 during American Athletic Conference play. With its run scored in the first inning of game two, the Cougars have now outscored their opponents 55-18 in the first two frames this season.
On the day, Houston's offense was led by senior catcher Brooke Vannoy, who went 4-for-6 with a home run and two runs scored across both games. She was joined by senior outfielders Sarah Barker and Maya Thomas, as well as junior infielder Sarah Queen as those who tallied multiple hits on Friday.
In the circle, senior pitcher Savannah Heebner tossed 15th complete-game of the season, surrendering two walks and allowing no earned runs in her six innings of work.
KEY INNINGS
3rd | With the Cougars trailing by a run, Houston claimed its first lead of the game, as a two-run single from junior infielder Sarah Queen gave the Cougars a one-run advantage. In the bottom of the inning, the Golden Hurricane tacked on three runs to reclaim the lead, 4-2.
4th | Houston fought back to tie the score as a two-run blast over the centerfield wall from sophomore infielder Tierrah Williams, scored junior catcher Brianna Burton. The Golden Hurricane put together a rebuttal of their own, plating three runs in the bottom of the inning to reclaim a 7-4 advantage.
5th | Another pair of runs from Tulsa pushed the edge to 9-4, where the Golden Hurricane never looked back to grab game one by a score of 10-6.

KEY INNINGS
1st | The Cougars struck first the second contest, as an RBI single from junior infielder Sarah Queen plated senior outfielder for Houston's first run of the game.
3rd | Tulsa fought bought and crossed the plate three times in the bottom of the inning, which proved to be the difference, as the Golden Hurricane took game two 3-1.

The Cougars concluded their three-game series with the Golden Hurricane with the rubber match schedule for Saturday. First pitch for that matchup is slated for 2 p.m. and can be seen on the American Digital Network.
