Cougars fall to Knights in second game of series
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Houston Softball team put together a comeback bid in the top of the seventh, but fell short of the ultimate prize, dropping game two of its series with UCF by a score of 4-1.
Heading into Sunday's rubber match, the Cougars sit at 33-16 on the year and 9-7 in American Athletic conference play, while the Knights move to 30-19 this season and 8-9 against league opponents.
Saturday's loss snapped Houston's seven-game winning streak, the team's second winning streak of at least seven games this season.
KEY INNINGS
3rd | With two runs in the bottom of the inning, the Knights took the first lead of the game, crossing the plate twice to take a 2-0 lead.
5th | The Knights added to their lead, plating another pair of runs to take a 4-0 lead into the sixth.
6th | Houston immediately responded as a pinch-hit RBI from junior catcher Brianna Burton scored senior catcher Brooke Vannoy to trim the deficit to three. Vannoy led the inning off with a single up the middle and was moved to third after a fielding blunder from UCF.
