Senior pitcher punches out season-high nine batters
FULERTON, Calif. – The University of Houston Softball team concluded its Southern California road trip on Tuesday night with a 1-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton.
Senior pitcher Savannah Heebner went the distance in the circle and helped lead the Cougars (19-8) to the team's 11th shutout of the season. She also drove in the game's only RBI, with her single in the sixth.
Heebner finished the night surrendering four hits and allowing just one walk, having struck out a season-high nine batters in the process. With her two hits against the Titans (15-9), junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart has now reached base in her past 17 games.

KEY INNINGS
3rd | Senior pitcher Savannah Heebner put her power in the circle on display, having struck out the side in order. Not only did she fool the opposing hitters, she kept them guessing, as two of the three strikeouts in the inning were looking.
6th | After junior infielder Kelli Montgomery singled through the right side to move senior outfielder Sarah Barker into scoring position, junior infielder Arielle James collected a single of her own to load the bases. Heebner then stepped up to the plate and placed a ball in left field to score Barker from third and put the Cougars ahead by a run, proving to be the difference in the game.

First pitch for the doubleheader is slated to begin at 5 p.m. and both games can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest Plus.
