The 12th-ranked Cougars enter Thursday's game following a week-long break from competition. In its last game, Houston knocked off Temple, 73-66, on Jan. 31, inside the Fertitta Center, thanks to a career-high-tying 24 points from senior guard Corey Davis Jr. and 14 points and 12 rebounds from sophomore guard DeJon Jarreau for the team's first double-double of the season.
With that victory, the Cougars recorded their 31st consecutive home win, the nation's longest active streak. Houston also rose to No. 12 in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY Coaches' polls and stand at No. 8 in the latest NCAA NET rankings.
With a 21-1 overall record and 8-1 mark in The American, the Cougars are off to the second-best start in program history and are tied with Cincinnati for the lead in the latest league standings. UCF stands in third with a 6-2 mark in league play.
