Junior pitcher tosses 17th no-no in program history
Melancon's no-hitter in the 8-0 win over Northern Illinois (7-7) is the 17th in program history and second of her career. She is the fifth pitcher in program history to have multiple career no-hitters. Melancon fell three walks shy of throwing a perfect game, having flirted with perfection into the fourth inning.
In the Cougars' (10-5) contest against Kennesaw State (5-8), it was junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart who elevated Houston to the 2-1 walk-off win in extra innings with her single up the middle. Senior pitcher Presley Bell locked down the Owls' offense, throwing all eight innings, while surrendering just one run to go along with a career-high nine strikeouts.
KEY INNINGS
2nd | After beginning the game with a pair of strikeouts in the first, junior pitcher Trystan Melancon came back to the circle and struck out the side in order. By the end of the second inning, Melancon was responsible for five of the six outs recorded, via strikeout.

5th | With the first three batters reaching base to start the bottom half of the inning, senior outfielder Maya Thomas came up to the plate and singled home freshman outfielder Bethany Busch for the Cougars' first run of the inning. Senior catcher Brooke Vannoy found a hole through the left side to bring around another pair of runs for Houston, stretching the lead to six at this point. Junior outfielder Lindsey Stewart then stepped into the box and tripled home another two runs to seal the 8-0 walk-off win for the Cougars and cement the no-hitter for Melancon.
