NEW ORLEANS – University of Houston senior All-American Leonie Harm finished with a three-day score of even-par 216 to earn co-medalist honors at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Tuesday afternoon.
Beginning the Final Round on No. 3 at English Turn Golf & Country Club, Harm overcame a roller-coaster start, which saw her alternate birdie and double bogey on her first four holes on the 6,239-yard course.
Fortunately, the Gerlingen, Germany, native rallied with two birdies in a three-hole stretch at Nos. 10-12 and added her final birdie on her final hole of the tournament at the 516-yard, par-5 second hole to move into a tie for the individual lead.
She earned the second individual championship of her career after winning the 2017 Texas State Invitational.
As a team, the Cougars finished sixth with a score of 892 against a field, which featured 13 of the nation's Top-50 programs.
Junior Amanda Elich joined Harm among the Top-5 leaders after firing a 70, the Cougars' low round of the day. The West Linn., Ore., native started her day with an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole and added three birdies for a career-best third-place finish at 217.
No. 3 Texas won the team title with a total score of 876 to finish two strokes ahead of No. 5 Duke. No. 1 USC (887), No. 8 Florida (888) and No. 16 South Carolina (888), No. 11 Auburn (900), No. 27 Michigan State (902), No. 25 Miami (Fla.) (907) and LSU (910) rounded out the Top 10.
Senior Tatiana Pineda finished the tournament 82nd at 239, while senior Yuka Kajiki finished 92nd at 257.
Florida's Addison Baggarly shared medalist honors with Harm, while No. 40 Lois Kaye Go and No. 34 Julie McCarthy (Auburn) joined Elich in a tie for third.
