Houston Concludes Toyota U.S. Open

Kondis, Sacha and Leehy all make appearances in the finals
HOUSTON – The 21st-ranked University of Houston Swimming & Diving program concluded three days of action at the 2019 Toyota U.S. Open at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Zarena Brown and Samantha Medlin got things going for the Cougars finishing 83rd and 84th-place in the 400 LCM Freestyle, respectively. Brown clocked a time of 4:25.82 and was followed by Medlin at 4:26.31.
Peyton Kondis led the Cougars in the 200 LCM Individual Medley with a 45th-place finish at 2:18.66. Laura Laderoute finished 143rd overall at 2:24.34.
In the 50 LCM Freestyle, Mykenzie Leehy tied for 51st-place with a time of 26.33.
On the second day of action Katie Higgins would compete in the 100 LCM Butterfly and earn a 42nd-place finish at 1:01.20.
Brown would anchor the Cougars in the 200 LCM Freestyle with a 41st-place finish at 2:02.99.
Kondis would advance to the C-Final of the 100 LCM Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.28, finishing 23rd-overall. In the final the senior would take fifth-place at 1:10.68.
Ioanna Sacha paced the Cougars in the 100 LCM Backstroke with a 53rd-place finish at 1:03.86.
Houston would conclude the final day of action in Atlanta with two Cougars advancing to the finals of their events, kicked off by Sacha finished 12th in the prelims of the 200 LCM Backstroke to advance to the B-Final where she placed fifth with a time of 2:15.35. Leehy would clock a time of 56.03 for 20th-overall in the 100 LCM Freestyle prelims to move on.
