Dear My Freshman Self,
Congrats! You will have made it through four years of college and let me tell you, time sure does fly by when you are living your dream as a Division I college athlete.
This is what you have been dreaming of your entire life. All of the long club practices, tournaments, workouts, excessive amounts of running, and the fun exciting moments along the way. All of this finally paid off the day that you signed your name to come to The University of Houston.
Freshman year ... not going to lie, it is going to change you. You moved away from home two months before everyone else, so you can start workouts and open gym practices with your new family. You may not believe it now, but I say your new family because these people are going to be by your side no matter what.
From the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. This is what college is all about. Growing together with your peers, learning the ins and outs of college, these are the people that will tell you not to give up when you think that you are failing at everything. Don't worry, it will get better. Don't be afraid to push yourself. Don't be afraid to go out of your way to help someone, and don't be afraid to be confident because you are good at what you do.
You may not believe this now, but you will have not only played in every match of your career, but played in every single set as well. On top of that, your name will be written all over the American Athletic Conference records book as the conference's all-time dig leader, and you will finish your career leading all active Division I players in career digs, making yourself proud during these times.
But really, none of this really matters. What matters is all the time and work that you have invested into this program with your peers. The value of that is much greater than anything else. They are the reason you have made it to where you are in your career and without them by your side this entire time, none of it will be possible.
With that said, thank you. To my friends, family, and coaches for never giving up on me and always pushing me to be my best self and player. I hope that I will continue to make you all proud. I will forever remember what this University and program has done for me. They gave me my second family and allowed me to play the sport that I love.

Much Love,
