
Houston Returns to Action at No. 11/11 Oregon

Cougars tip off at 8 p.m. (CST) Friday in Eugene, Ore.; Game to air on Pac-12 Networks & KPRC 950 AM
EUGENE, Ore. – Winner of two of its first three games, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it tips off at No. 11/11 Oregon at 8 p.m. (CST), Friday, inside Matthew Knight Arena.
The Cougars enter this weekend's contest on the heels of an exciting, come-from-behind victory at Rice on Tuesday night. Sophomore guard Quentin Grimes ignited a 21-1 run during a 5-minute stretch late in the second half to turn a 77-68 deficit into an 89-78 lead with 61 seconds remaining.
Grimes finished the game with a career-high 32 points and added nine rebounds and five assists. The Woodlands, Texas, native and College Park High School product drained all four of his 3-pointers in the Cougars' big run.
With his scoring total, Grimes jumped into the team lead and moved to sixth in the American Athletic Conference with 18.3 points per game.
Sophomore guard Nate Hinton finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for the second double-double of his career and the team's first of the season. He posted the same numbers in the Cougars' 85-69 win at No. 20/19 Cincinnati on March 8 to clinch The American outright regular-season championship for Houston.
The Gastonia, N.C., native is tied for seventh in the league with 8.7 rebounds per game.
Sophomore guard Marcus Sasser added 15 points, thanks to 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. The Red Oak, Texas, native leads the Cougars and is tied for The American lead with 3.0 treys per game.
