Cougars fall to Huskies in 2-1 overtime decision

HARTFORD, Conn. - The Cougars dropped a hard fought match to UConn in a 2-1 overtime decision, Thursday afternoon at Dillon Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Houston would get on the board early in the opening frame, when Desiree Bowen connected with a pass from Amy Nguyen and scored off of a header, inside the 14th minute.
UConn would notch their first goal inside the 49th minute, tying it up to end regulation.
The Huskies would score their game-winner inside the 93rd minute.
Samantha Cude played every minute in-goal for the Cougars, posting three saves.
Desiree Bowen and Mia Brascia led the team with three shots each, followed by Jazmin Grant and Amy Nguyen with two each.
Houston tallied 11 shots, and 10 corner kicks.

OTHER NOTABLES

Houston falls to 3-10-0 on the season.
Houston is now 2-5-0 on the road this season.
UConn owns the all-time series, 5-1-1.

Houston will continue conference play on the road, when it takes on Temple on Oct. 13. The match is slated for 12 p.m.
