This season, Houston has established itself as one of the nation's top defensive teams. The Cougars, who are ranked No. 17 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll and No. 19 in the Associated Press poll, stand at No. 4 in the latest NCAA NET rankings. Houston claimed a 74-56 win over Tulsa on Wednesday in the Fertitta Center in The American opener for both teams.
Senior guard Corey Davis Jr. leads the Cougars and ranks 10th in the league with 15.8 points per game. The Lafayette, La., native also ranks third in the country with a 94.7 free throw percentage.
Junior guard Armoni Brooks ranks second on Houston with 14.4 points per game but leads the Cougars with 7.4 rebounds per game. The Round Rock, Texas, native is one only three players to rank among The American's Top-15 leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
