The 17th-ranked Cougars (19-1, 6-1 American) enter this weekend's game following an impressive 94-50 win over ECU on Wednesday inside the Fertitta Center. Houston drained a season-high 16 3-pointers (including 11 in the first half alone), tying for the sixth-highest mark in school single-game history.
Against the Pirates, the Cougars buried 66.7 percent of their long-range tries (16-of-24), tying for the sixth-highest mark in UH single-game history.
Junior guard Armoni Brooks buried 5-of-7 3-point attempts on the way to a game-high 17 points to lead five Cougars in double digits. Brooks has hit at least one trey in each of his last 22 games dating back to last season, tying for the 10th-longest streak in school history.
With a game-high eight assists, senior point guard Galen Robinson Jr. became only the sixth player in Houston history to record 500+ assists during his career. Finishing with 504 assists, the Westbury Christian native moved into sole possession of fourth place in Houston history in that category.
With Wednesday's win, the Cougars enjoyed their 30th straight home win to extend the nation's longest active streak. Houston also improved to 19-1 overall and 6-1 in American Athletic Conference play, joining Cincinnati atop the latest league standings.
Only the 1967-68 team, which started 31-0 and competed in the NCAA Final Four, enjoyed a better 20-game start than the 2018-19 Cougars.
