Ranked No. 17 in both the USA TODAY Coaches' and the Associated Press polls and at No. 7 in the latest NCAA NET rankings, the Cougars enter this week's home contest following a 69-60 win at USF on Sunday and a 69-58 win at SMU on Wednesday.
With those wins, the Cougars improved to 18-1 overall and 5-1 in American Athletic Conference play, tying with Cincinnati for first for the league lead.
Competing in their first home game since Jan. 12, the Cougars look to extend their 29-game home winning streak, the nation's longest active streak. With a victory against the Pirates, the current Cougars will tie for the fourth-longest home winning streak in school history.

For this week's games, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff will wear sneakers on the sidelines as part of Suits and Sneakers Week for Coaches vs. Cancer.
Each year, Sampson and his staff join college and high school coaches from across the nation in wearing sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer and the fight against cancer.
More than 25 years ago, the National Association of Basketball Coaches teamed with the American Cancer Society. Since its inception, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised more than $115 million to support the American Cancer Society and save lives.
From 1991 to 2016, the cancer death rate fell 27 percent, meaning more than 2.6 million deaths were avoided.
MILESTONES
Senior point guard Galen Robinson Jr. needs only four assists to become the sixth player in school history to dish out 500+ assists during his career.
With seven assists, Robinson will move into sole possession of fourth place in Houston history in that category, moving pass Lanny Smith (2003-08) and Alvin Franklin (1982-86).
