HOUSTON – Houston opened its 2018 season across town at Houston Baptist, dropping the match in a 3-1 decision and falling to 0-1-0 on the season.

The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

Houston will remain on the road when it faces Lamar on Sunday at 7 p.m. in Beaumont. Houston will then return home for its home opener on Aug. 24 against Prairie View A&M before embarking on a three-match road stand at Incarnate Word (Aug.26), California Baptist (Aug. 31) and UC Riverside (Sept. 2)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars fell behind early after Houston Baptist knocked in its first goal inside the 10th minute.
- The Huskies would find the back of the net again in the 33rd and 64th minutes.
- Angela Forthuber would connect with a pass from Nolin Packer for her first career goal and Packers first career assist.
- Desiree Bowen led the Cougars with five shots, followed by Mia Brascia with four and Kaitlyn Wild with three.
- Rachel Estopare played every minute in-goal for Houston, posting five saves.
OTHER NOTABLESÂ
- Houston is now 1-1-0 in season openers under Head Coach Diego Bocanegra.
- The Cougars still lead the all-time series with the Huskies 3-2-2
