Houston’s home schedule opens with a top-20 showdown vs. Arizona
HOUSTON – With Sports Illustrated's top-ranked player in Ed Oliver entering the 2018 season on its roster, Houston is ranked No. 20 in SI's recently announced preseason rankings.

Entering its second season under Head Coach Major Applewhite, Houston is one of two American Athletic Conference programs ranked in the publication's top 25, coming in behind No. 17 UCF. Houston is also ranked second among schools in the state of Texas, trailing only No. 14 TCU.
Following its season opener at crosstown rival Rice on Sept. 1, Houston's home schedule opens on Sept. 8 in a top-20 showdown as SI ranked Arizona No. 19. The Wildcats will make Kevin Sumlin's first return to the UH campus since 2011 with quarterback Khalil Tate, ranked No. 4 on SI's ranking of players.
Houston's home slate also includes matchups vs. Texas Southern (Sept. 22), Tulsa (Oct. 4), USF (Oct. 27), Temple (Nov. 10) and Tulane (Nov. 15) with season tickets starting as low as $100 at UHCougars.com/tickets. The 2018 home schedule will also feature the debut of the RedZone, a climate-controlled indoor tailgating scene inside the new Indoor Practice Facility for Houston's four Saturday games.
