Harm Ready to Tee Off at Women’s British Open

Senior All-American becomes first Cougar in program history to compete in major championship
LANCASHIRE, England – University of Houston senior All-American Leonie Harm will become the first player in school history to compete in a major championship when she tees off at the Ricoh Women's British Open on Thursday.
Harm will tee off No. 1 in the First Round at 4:37 a.m. (CDT) Thursday on 6,585-yard, par-72 course Royal Lytham & St. Anne's Golf Club. She will compete in a group with Haeji Kang and Jenny Haglund.
Harm, who currently stands at No. 18 in the latest Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings, earned her way into the Women's British Open after capturing the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship title at Hillside Golf Club in Southport, U.K., in late June. After two rounds of stroke play to qualify for match play, the Gerlingen, Germany, native won six matches in three days to claim the title with a 3 and 2 victory over Stephanie Lau.

Fans can watch the Ricoh Women's British Open beginning Thursday. The first two rounds will air from 5 a.m. to noon (CDT) Thursday and Friday on Golf Channel.
On Saturday, the Third Round will air on Golf Channel from 6 a.m., to 10 a.m. (CDT) before switching to NBC from 10 a.m., to 1 p.m. (CDT)
Final Round coverage will be shown from 6 a.m., to 10:30 a.m. (CDT) Sunday, before switching to NBC from 10:30 a.m., to 1 p.m. (CDT).

ABOUT LEONIE HARM
Harm enjoyed an award-winning season in 2017-18. She was honored as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year while leading the Cougars to their second conference title in the last three years. The Cougars also advanced to NCAA Regional play for the fourth consecutive season, or every season in which Houston has been eligible as a team.
In the Final Round of the NCAA Austin Regional, Harm shot a school-record 65 with seven birdies and an eagle to force a playoff for the final spot and battled through seven extra holes to win the playoff and advance to the NCAA Championships for the second time during her career.
Harm led the Cougars with a 72.84 scoring average and 17 rounds of par or better, including five in the 60s. She finished among the Top-20 leaders in all but two tournaments with seven Top-10 finishes.
She was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention to earn the first All-America honor in program history and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team while majoring in biochemistry.
