HOUSTON â€" The award season continues for the University of Houston Swimming & Diving program as six student-athletes earn CSCAA Scholar All-America honors and the team earned its sixth straight Scholar All-America team award.
"We are very proud that Houston Swimming as a program, and in particular these six student-athletes, continues to strive and achieve at the highest levels possible both in the classroom and in the pool," said Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka.
Sophomores Peyton Kondis and Zarena Brown led the charge for Houston earning Scholar All-America First Team honors. Houston was the only school in the American to have multiple student-athletes named to the First Team.
Kondis closed out her sophomore campaign with her second consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship in the 100 Breaststroke to go along with All-Conference honors in four events. Kondis competed in three events at the NCAA Championships, finishing the season with three top-10 times in program history to go along with four personal-best.
Brown was a mainstay on the podium at the American Championships, posting first-place finishes in three individual events and three relays. Brown capped her sophomore season with All-Conference honors in seven events, competing in three events at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
Eleanna Koutsouveli, Victoria Tillman, Laura Laderoute and Micaela Bouter earned Scholar All-America Honorable Mention accolades after impressive seasons in and out of the pool. Koutsouveli earned All-Conference honors in three events and won the 200 Individual Medley event at the American Championships.
Tillman closed out her debut season at Houston with All-Conference honors in the 100 Butterfly and three lifetime best at the conference championships. Tillman posted a 4.0 GPA during both the fall and spring semester, one of six student-athletes at Houston to do so for at least two consecutive semesters.
Laderoute finished the season with All-Conference honors in four events. The sophomore posted a program-best 53.38 in the 100 Backstroke at the Houston First Chance meet and finished second in the event at the American Championships.
