HOUSTON â€" University of Houston junior Leonie Harm and Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell collected individual awards from the American Athletic Conference on Friday morning.
Harm was chosen by the league's head coaches as the Player of the Year for the first time in her career. Chadwell received the league's Coach of the Year honor for the second time in the last three years.
Chadwell and Harm recently led the Cougars to the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships team title earlier this week. Posting a Championships record low round of 11-under 277 in the Final Round Tuesday, the Cougars picked up the program's second championship in only the fourth year of the program's existence.
ECU's Kathryn Carson was named the league's Freshman of the Year, while ECU received the Team Academic Award with a 3.839 GPA.

Leonie Harm
Harm has been one of the Cougars and The American's most consistent performers throughout the 2017-18 season. She became the first Cougar in program history to compete in the NCAA Championships, playing as an individual in 2016, and became the first player in school history to be honored as a conference Player of the Year.
Checking in at No. 37, she is the highest ranked player by Golfstat in the league and leads the Cougars with a 72.90 scoring average and 14 rounds of par or better. She has finished among the Top-20 individual leaders in 10 of the 11 tournaments in which she has competed this season.
The Gerlingen, Germany, native posted a 67 in the Final Round at The American Championships on Tuesday on the way to her third straight Top-10 finish at the league's annual postseason event. She became the fourth student-athlete in program history to compete in 3+ American Athletic Conference Championships during her career.
In addition to her work on the course, Harm was a 2017 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and is a two-time member of the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Gerrod Chadwell
In 2018, Chadwell guided the Cougars to eight Top-5 team finishes in 11 tournaments, including five Top-3 showings.
Four student-athletes â€" seniors Allie Andersen, Megan Thothong and Courtney Tibiletti and junior Leonie Harm â€" were named to the All-American Athletic Conference Team earlier this week. It was the most single-season All-Conference honorees in program history.
Chadwell built the Houston program from the ground up when he was first hired in 2013. During the 2013-14 season, the Cougars competed with four student-athletes as individuals and were not allowed to compete as a team, per NCAA rules.
With Tuesday's title, Houston received the league's automatic bid to NCAA Regional play and will compete in the NCAA postseason for the fourth straight season, or every year in which the team has been eligible.
Chadwell collected the second conference Coach of the Year honor during his career after first receiving the honor in 2016.
