Top-10 Program Times Highlight Championships

COLUMBUS â€" The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program opened its first day of action at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, with three top-10 program times.
"I'm very proud of how we raced this morning," said Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka. "It is exciting to measure ourselves against the very best in the country. We look forward to racing out primary events tomorrow and try to put some points on the board."
Zarena Brown hit the water first for Houston, finishing second in her heat of the 500 Freestyle with the third-best time in program history. The American Athletic Conference Champion, touched the wall at 4:46.16, finishing 57th overall.
In the second event of the day, sophomore Peyton Kondis collected a third-place finish in her heat of the 200 IM. Kondis turned in the fourth-fastest time in program history after finishing the race in 2:00.86, finishing 60th overall.
Senior Ksenia Yuskova posted the tenth-best time in program history in the 50 Freestyle after finishing the race in 23.37. Yuskova finished the race 59th overall.
THE FIELD
- The NCAA Championship field is made up of 322 participants; 281 swimmers and 41 divers.
- 58 schools will be sending swimmers to Ohio.
