The Cougars enter this weekend's game on the heels of a 79-56 win over Lamar on Tuesday night inside the Fertitta Center. That win pushed Houston's current home winning streak to 21 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in the nation.
With that victory, Houston also improved to 7-0. The 2018-19 Cougars became only the fourth team in school history to win its first seven games to open the season and the first since 1997-98.
Senior point guard Galen Robinson Jr. led the Cougars against Lamar with a career-high-tying 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. The Houston native and Westbury Christian product leads the Cougars and ranks second in the American Athletic Conference with 5.9 assists per game.
Junior guard Armoni Brooks ranks second on the team with 15.6 points per game but leads the Cougars with 6.7 rebounds per contest. The Round Rock, Texas, native – who was honored as the league's Player of the Week on Monday – is one of only two players to rank among The American's Top-11 leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
Guard Nate Hinton, who was named The American's Preseason Freshman of the Year – finished with 14 points against Lamar on Tuesday and is averaging 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his first collegiate season.
Saturday's game will be the first time the Cougars have faced Oklahoma State on the hardwood since the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional in Manhattan, Kan., on March 12, 1965
