The Cougars enter this week's home game on the heels of a historic night on the University of Houston campus. Houston opened the $60-million Fertitta Center in impressive style, taking a 65-61 win over No. 18/21 Oregon behind junior guard Armoni Brooks' 22 points and nine rebounds.
The Cougars played in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,039 and jumped out to a 33-13 lead in the first half against the Ducks.
This season, Brooks ranks second on the team with 15.3 points per game but leads the Cougars with 6.3 rebounds per contest after averaging 10.5 boards per game in a pair of wins last week. For his impressive play, he was honored Monday as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Senior guard and Preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection Corey Davis Jr. leads the Cougars with 18.7 points per game and ranks second on the team with 4.2 assists per game.

ABOUT LAMAR
• Lamar has posted a 4-4 record this season with wins in three of its last five games.
• Cardinals are 1-4 on the road in 2018-19.
• In its most recent action, Lamar claimed a 75-68 win at Rice on Saturday.
• Against Rice, Lamar connected on 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field to build a 37-26 lead by halftime in a 76-68 victory over the Owls.
• All five Lamar starters scored in double digits with junior forward Edwin Jeudy's 17 points and 10 rebounds leading the way. Senior forward Josh Nzeakor finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Jordan Hunter totaled 12 points with four rebounds and a game-high five assists... Senior guard Nick Garth and junior guard/forward T.J. Atwood added 11 points apiece.
• This season, Nzeakor leads Lamar with 13.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game... Garth is a close second with 13.6 points per contest with Hunter adding 13.0 points and a team-high 4.5 assists per game... Atwood ranks fourth among the Cardinals with 12.4 points per game.
• Head Coach Tic Price is in his 6th season at Lamar and his 16th as a collegiate head coach. Price has compiled a 236-193 record during his career and is 69-71 at Lamar.
• Price previously built a 74-68 record at McNeese (2001-06), a 30-27 record at Memphis (1997-99) and a 63-27 record at New Orleans (1994-97).
• Price is 2-4 against Houston during his career... Includes a 2-2 record during his stint at Memphis and an 0-2 mark with McNeese.
• 1979 graduate of Virginia Tech.
