The Cougars, who entered the nation's Top 25 at No. 22 in the USA TODAY Coaches' poll and at No. 24 in the most recent Associated Press poll on Monday, will meet the Tigers on the hardwood for the fourth straight season in the first of seven straight home games inside the Fertitta Center.
With their 8-0 start, the 2018-19 Cougars are only the third team in school history to accomplish that feat and the first since 1969-70.
Senior guard Corey Davis Jr. and junior guard Armoni Brooks lead the Cougars with 16.5 points per game and rank among the American Athletic Conference's top-10 scoring leaders.
Snaring a team-best 6.9 rebounds per contest, Brooks is one of only two players to rank among the league's Top-10 leaders in both scoring and rebounding and also leads The American with 4.1 3-point field goals made per game and a 45.8 3-point field goal percentage.
Senior point guard Galen Robinson Jr. leads the Cougars and The American with 6.3 assists per game.
Houston brings a 21-game home winning streak into Wednesday's contest against LSU. After posting a perfect 15-0 record inside H&PE Arena during the $60-million renovation of Fertitta Center, the Cougars have won their first six home games in 2018-19 to own the nation's second-longest active home winning streak.
