HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Basketball program opens its 74th season when it plays host to Alabama A&M at 2 p.m., Saturday, inside H&PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern University in a game presented by Maintenance Supply Headquarters.
H&PE Arena doors open at 12:30 p.m., Saturday. The FREE parking shuttle service to the game also begins at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, but fans should note that pickup has been relocated to Lot 20C by the Campus Recreation Center near the intersection of Spur 5 and University Drive on the UH campus due to Houston Football's 6 p.m., Homecoming game vs. Temple.
The Cougars enter this weekend's home opener on the heels of an 89-60 win over Dallas Baptist on Thursday in H&PE Arena. Against the Patriots, senior guard Corey Davis Jr. drained a game-high nine 3-pointers (which would have tied the UH single-game record) on the way to 27 points.
Junior guard and 2018 American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year Armoni Brooks finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while redshirt freshman forward Cedrick Alley Jr. added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Davis was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team, while guard Nate Hinton was named the league's Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Saturday's game is part of the Men against Breast Cancer Cougar Cup. Following this game, the Cougars continue play in the event against Rice (Nov. 14), Northwestern State (Nov. 19) and at BYU (Nov. 24). Saturday will be a busy day around the Houston Athletics Complex. Following the Men's Basketball opener, fans can visit Fertitta Center and take a peek of the construction progress with the $60-million facility's grand opening coming Dec. 1 against No. 14/16 Oregon.
From there, Houston Football will face American Athletic Conference rival Temple at 6 p.m., Saturday, inside TDECU Stadium in the team's annual Homecoming game.

• Cougars are 53-20 in their season opener history and have won their last nine and 13 of the last 14 openers.
• Houston has won its last nine season openers by an average of 22.6 points per game.

PARKING
Due to Saturday's Houston Football Homecoming game, fans should note that the location for the FREE parking shuttle has been changed.
Houston's parking shuttle service begins at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, in Lot 20C by the Campus Recreation Center near the intersection of Spur 5 and University Drive on the UH campus.
Shuttle return service begins immediately after the game and will run for one hour.

• Alabama A&M brings an 0-1 record into Saturday's game after an 80-63 loss at USF on Tuesday.
• Against the Bulls, guard Arthur Johnson led the Bulldogs with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from the arc... Forward Andre Kennedy added 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting... Guard Jalen Reeder led the team with five rebounds, while guard Brandon Miller topped AAMU with eight assists.
