PROVO, Utah – For the first time during the 2018-19 season, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program will hit the road to take on BYU at 5 p.m. (CST) Saturday inside the Marriott Center.
The winner of Saturday's game will capture the Men Against Breast Cancer Cougar Cup championship. Both teams have posted a 3-0 record in the tournament to date.
Houston enters this weekend's game following an 82-55 win over Northwestern State on Monday inside H&PE Arena. For the third straight game, junior guard Armoni Brooks led the Cougars in scoring, totaling 16 points with four 3-pointers. The Round Rock, Texas, native ranks second in the American Athletic Conference with 20.0 points per game.
Brooks was one of five Cougars to reach double-digit points against the Demons. Junior center Chris Harris Jr. and senior guards Landon Goesling and Corey Davis Jr. added 13 points apiece, while senior point guard Galen Robinson Jr. totaled 11 points with a game-high seven rebounds.
Davis, who was a 2018 Preseason All-American Athletic Conference pick, is tied for seventh in the league with 17.7 points per game, making Houston the only team in the league with two Top-Eight scorers.
Under the leadership of 2018 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars lead the American Athletic Conference in nine statistical categories, including scoring offense (87.3 ppg), field goal percentage (50.3), 3-point field goal percentage (43.8), 3-point field goals per game (11.7) and assists (18.7 apg).
Houston ranks among the Top-20 national leaders in five categories, including a second-place standing with a 2.4 assist-turnover ratio.

• BYU brings a 5-1 record into Saturday's game following Wednesday's 105-78 win over Rice inside the Marriott Center… Cougars are 5-0 at home this season.
• Against Rice, forward Yoeli Childs led BYU with 28 points on 13-of-18 shooting and seven rebounds and added five assists… Guard Jahshire Hardnett added 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting with three rebounds, while guard TJ Haws finished with 18 points, four rebounds and a game-high eight assists.
• This season, Childs leads BYU with 20.7 points and 12.5 rebounds per game... Haw stands second with 14.2 points per contest and leads the Cougars with 5.5 assists per game, while Hardnett ranks third with 12.7 points per game.
• Head Coach and Houston alum David Rose is in his 14th season at BYU and overall as a collegiate head coach.
• Rose has compiled a 334-123 record at BYU during his career.
• Rose is 0-1 against his alma mater during his career... In his first season at BYU, his Cougars dropped a 77-67 decision to Houston's Cougars in the NIT First Round in Hofheinz Pavilion on March 15, 2006.
• Saturday's game will be the first time that Rose has faced Houston Head Coach Kelvin Sampson during his career.
