Houston Set to Face Road Test at Tulane

Cougars head to Big Easy for first road meet of the season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team will head to Tulane for a Saturday morning meet at the Reily Student Recreation Center Natatorium.

Houston will continue its season returns to Houston for a meet at Rice University on Oct 12-13, with the Houston Diving Invitational taking place at the CRWC also on Oct. 12-13.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

- Houston is coming off of a pair of convincing victories over UT Permian Basin and Incarnate Word last weekend at the Campus Recreations and Wellness Center.
- Last weekend 13 Cougars posted lifetime best and Houston won 14 of 16 events, and had 27 top-three finishes.
- Freshman Haley Benjamin made her Houston debut with three first-place finishes in the 1000-yard Freestyle (10:12.17), 500-yard Freestyle (4:58.65), and the 400-yard Individual Medley (4:26.92).
-  Zarena Brown picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:51.08) and the 100-yard Freestyle (51.76)
- Laura Laderoute won both the 200-yard Backstroke (2:03.66) and the 100-yard Backstroke (56.41)
- Katie Deininger won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard with a team-high 307.45 in the 3-meter and 280.80 in the 1-meter.
- Houston is 11-0 against Tulane and defeated them last season at both the Phill Hansel Invitational and in dual action.
- Tulane is in its first year under Head Coach Leah Stancil
- The meet will mark Tulane's first meet action of the season.
- Last season Tulane placed third at the Phill Hansel Invitational and fell to Houston 248-105 in dual action at the CRWC.
- The Green Wave posted a fifth-place finish at the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships
