Cougars host in-state rival in match with conference tourney implications
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Soccer team will closeout its regular-season with a Friday evening match against in-state rival SMU at the Carl Lewis Complex. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS
The Houston Soccer program is excited to celebrate 20 years of Houston soccer this season. The team unveiled a logo on June 14 that represents 20 years of Houston soccer. The logo is featured on one of the three uniforms that the Cougars will wear throughout the season.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
- The Cougars return home to the Carl Lewis Complex where they have posted a 5-2-0 record this season.
- Houston is 7-9-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.
- Houston is currently sixth in the American Athletic Conference standings with 10 points.
- Desiree Bowen leads Houston in points and in goals with 14 points off a seven goals.
- Mia Brascia leads the team with eight assists this season, to go along with two goals.
- Rachel Estopare leads the Cougars with 52 saves this season and two shutouts.Â
- Brascia is tied for first in the conference in assist with three in conference play. She is first in assist through all games with eight.
- Bowen is fifth in The American in goals through all games with seven.
- As a team Houston is tied for second in shots (256) and third in saves (84) in the conference through all games.Â
- SMU is currently receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll and is 9-6-1 overall this season and 4-4-0 in The American.
- Allie Thornton leads SMU with 18 points of nine goals this season. Celiana Torres leads the Mustangs in assist with five this season to go along with six goals.
- Catie Brown is the primary goalkeeper for the Mustangs with an 8-4-1 record and 56 saves.
- SMU averages 2.00 goals per game and is currently fourth in the American Athletic Conference standings with 12 points.
- SMU is in its seventh season under Head Coach Chris Petrucelli.
- The Mustangs lead the all-time series with the Cougars after winning in Dallas last season in a 1-0 decision.Â
- Bowen is now tied for seventh all-time in points with 36 for her career. She is also fourth all-time in goals with 18.
- Brascia is tied for ninth all-time in assist with eight and is the leader in single-season assist at Houston.
