The honor comes after Robinson posted a career-high 21 tackles in Houston's 49-36 win at Navy. Robinson also earned National Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation and Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors from The American Athletic Conference.
With Tuesday's honor, Robinson has also been added to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, joining defensive tackle Ed Oliver on the list for the award presented annually to the nation's top defensive player.
Robinson's 21 tackles included a career-best 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, also a career best, as Houston handed Navy its worst regular-season home loss since Oct. 8, 2011.
The 21 tackles are tied for the eighth-best single-game effort in Houston history and the most since Trevon Stewart had 21 at ECU in 2012.
The 21 also rank second in The American's history, behind the 24 of Temple's Tyler Matakevich vs. Idaho in 2013, while the 4.5 tackles for loss rank fifth in The American's single-game history.
After Saturday's effort, Robinson now has 75 tackles on the year, which leads The American, and 8.5 tackles for loss with four sacks, both of which rank sixth in the league.
