King, who averages 28.3 points responsible for per game, also ranks sixth nationally and leads The American with 20 passing touchdowns while ranking 10th nationally with eight rushing touchdowns in six games.
He's one of just three players in the past decade (Marcus Mariota and Geno Smith) to record at least 25 total touchdowns and no more than three turnovers in his team's first six games.
The Manvel, Texas, native is 14th nationally and second in The American with 299.3 yards of total offense per game while ranking second in The American with 261.8 passing yards per game. He also ranks 13th nationally and second in The American with a passer rating of 167.4.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
Finalists for the honor will be determined by a selected panel of national media covering college football, as well as each of the Mannings. That list will be released on Thursday, Nov. 29 and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
