HOUSTON â€" Duke has the Cameron Crazies… Illinois is supported by the Orange Crush… The Grateful Red cheer for Wisconsin… Michigan State plays in the Izzone.
Now, the University of Houston is looking for a name for its student section as the school prepares to move into the $60-million Fertitta Center for the 2018-19 season, and is calling for all students' help.
Two University of Houston donors have paid for naming rights for the section, and they wish to have current UH students involved. Students wishing to submit their suggestions may do so by visiting uhcougars.com/studentsection and filling out the form at the bottom of the page or by clicking here.
The online form MUST be completely filled out to be accepted, and naming suggestions MUST be submitted by 11:59 p.m., Feb. 28. From there, a Houston Athletics committee will make the final decision.
ALL current UH students are invited to submit their ideas. The person submitting the winning name will receive UH and Nike apparel and $500.
The winning name will be announced during Senior Day at the final regular-season Men's Basketball game against American Athletic Conference rival UConn. Tipoff for that game is slated for 3 p.m., Sunday, March 4.
